Photography, together with artistic processes of camera movement and multiple exposure, allows for an abstract response to place through the complex rhythm of color, line, and form. Creating an ease between representation and abstraction I hope to inspire curiosity and extend an invitation to experience photography in an unexpected way.
American abstract painters like Georgia O'Keeffe and Forrest Moses, who lived in New Mexico, are an inspiration to me. The sense of place and vibrant colors of the American Southwest create an imaginative field of light, shadow and expressive shapes in their ever-changing form. I leave the world of photographic realism behind to uncover an expressionist's perspective that reveals the ephemeral nature of the moment where discoveries are seemingly infinite.
